Our Eight-Step Interior Design Journey

Clients often don’t know what to expect working with an interior design company, so we’ve outlined here the 8 steps of our design process that we use as a framework for our projects.

The first contact comes through filling out the online form. We will reach out to you to schedule a discovery call where we briefly discuss your project and set up the initial consultation at your home.

At the initial consultation we will walk through the project and discuss what you are hoping to achieve. We will explain how Happy House Interiors works with clients and we will take overall measurements to help us determine the design fees and estimated investment for your project. We set the appointment date for going over the proposal contract which outlines the design fee, investment estimate, general order of operations, outlines the deliverables for each phase, and sets expectations for our responsibilities as well as the clients.

After we agree to work together, sign the contract, and receive the first portion of the design fee, we come back to document the space with detailed measurements, pictures, and further questions. We set an appointment for the preliminary design presentation.

The conceptual design phase begins. We gather inspiration from photos, artwork, film, nature, history, whatever is appropriate to the project. A vision begins to form and we come up with a design concept that will act as a guide for every decision that gets made. We collect the second half of the design fee and present our ideas. We schedule the detailed design presentation.

We consider all feedback from the preliminary design presentation and use it to move forward to the detailed design phase. We firm up the product selections and meet with the other tradespeople involved in the implementation of the design. We present the final design and make any revisions required before beginning the next phase.

We create proposals and get final approvals and payment in full for all products to be purchased on behalf of the client. We order, track, and schedule delivery of all items purchased through us. We collaborate with the tradespeople involved to answer any questions and oversee the installation process to ensure the success of the project. We visit the job site regularly throughout the construction phase and help in problem solving when issues arise.

We supervise delivery and installation of all products and style the space for photography and final reveal. We leave you to enjoy your home.

We check in with you several weeks post completion and get your feedback on the overall experience as well as address any deficiencies. We share a digital file with product information including warranties and maintenance instructions and sadly, bid you farewell.
